In every business setting, there are several dreaded, time-consuming and repetitive activities which we must carry out to keep the wheels spinning. Somebody has to do them regardless of the very low fun factor. We are a software company, though – we simplify and automate complicated things for a living, so why not do it for the boring part of our jobs, too?

We did it! Netguru has made it to the list of 1000 fastest growing companies in Europe. With the 644-percent revenue growth between 2012 and 2015 (65 percent year on year on average), our company was ranked 188, outperforming such big tech players as Skyscanner and Spotify. We would not have been recognised but for the hard work of our team. We also believe that our mindset and business strategy laid the foundation for this success. We promote our values internally and externally, which helps us achieve our business goals. Today, we would like to share the seven core qualities of our company we preach and practice on a daily basis. All of them made it possible for us to grow exponentially over just a few years.

There's the same problem with democracies all around the world: how to hold the politicians accountable? Promises are made before the elections, and hardly ever kept by politicians in office. Although in theory all activities of members of parliament are accessible, in practice a curious citizen will find it impossible to analyze them. Usually one would have to personally visit the archives, and manually search for the answer.

Invented by the founders of Trello, Glitch is said to be the friendly community where you can build a web app of your dreams. It holds out the promise of revolution in the way we develop software. The idea behind it is to give developers a hospitable and free environment to code, create apps, remix and modify them without a bulk of unnecessary coding tools that raise barriers to your creativity. With Glitch developers can create apps with ease and instantly deploy them. The platform is fairly new, with not so many users who have tested it so far, so we decided to give it a go and see how it delivers on its promises.

Quite recently, we've figured out that we can improve our internal flow in terms of answering clients' calls, coming primarily from abroad. The idea was to build a simple app that will intercept incoming calls, post a Slack notification and allow us to answer these calls through a web browser using Twilio number. That’s how Callio was born. In this article, you will find a comprehensive guide on how it works and how to integrate it with your account.

A cool thing about working in a software development company is that we have the resources to create our own internal solutions. When we can’t find a tool that would sort out our problems, we just make them. That’s how Callio, a Twilio integration with Slack, was born. Callio lets us intercept incoming calls from our clients via our favourite communication platform – Slack. There is something even cooler about us having the resources to develop new solutions: we can share those solutions with the community to make your life easier.

Hi folks! I’m Darek, a leader and senior RoR developer at Netguru. I joined Netguru when it had 30 members, now we’ve grown to more than 210! Recently, I’ve had a very interesting problem to solve. We wanted to have better knowledge about what skills our people have, what they want to get better at and, last but not least, improve how we assign people to projects. That’s why we introduced “Skills”, a feature in “People”, one of our open-source projects. You can try it out yourself if you want. Let me walk you through the new features!

In a recent article, we’ve covered the 9 most important characteristics of a modern workplace to look out for when job hunting. We’ve talked about fairness, flexibility and character, among other crucial factors - and we’ve mentioned motivation, though only briefly. The Netguru team currently consists of over 170 people who are assigned to various projects on a regular basis. You can imagine how much time it requires to prepare comprehensive reports on their work for different clients. We wanted to help our scheduler - Natalia - who had to regularly create multiple reports in XLS files. To this end, we created a simple Rails application which auto-generates the XLS reports based on data acquired from our People app’s API, which Natalia had created manually.
