What makes this role unique and challenging?                                                 .                   We are looking for an ambitious and experienced manager who will be responsible for our UK expansion. You’ll be working from Poland and managing a remote team based in the UK. Your job will require frequent business travel (approx. 50% of the year). The role will include setting a vision and strategy, hiring and leading talented senior consultants (business development managers), proactively looking for ways to help our current and new clients reach their business goals, and consequently, growing our business in the process.

What are the responsibilities of an Expansion Manager?

  • Building and leading a great team of consultants (business development managers) based in London, UK:

    • Hiring, motivating, and mentoring your team.
    • Building a team development strategy.
    • Supporting your team on commercial projects.
  • Setting and implementing a short-term and long-term market expansion strategy and vision with support from the experienced Growth and Business Development teams:
    • Establishing a Netguru on-site presence in London, UK.
    • Setting sales objectives and projecting expected sales volume and profit within the managed territory.
  • Growing Netguru's business in the UK through an active sales and consulting approach:

    • Leading senior executives (current and prospective Netguru clients) through strategic dialogue on key challenges, strategic options, and possible outcomes.
    • Identifying business expansion opportunities, analyzing market potential, and targeting new business.
    • Proactively expanding a network through various online and offline tools and channels, including but not limited to organizing and attending IT-related events and workshops, conducting research, and gathering referrals.
    • Negotiating and signing deals with new clients.
  • Collaborating effectively with other Netguru teams:
    • Participating in sales calls or meetings with new and existing clients to hear and understand their needs and requirements first-hand.
    • Working directly with our Chief Strategy Officer and in close cooperation with the senior management team.
  • Knowledge sharing:
    • Being a part of a thought leadership community - writing informative blogposts, articles, and presentations on Netguru’s commercial products and services and gaining knowledge from experienced internal and external thought leaders.
    • Keeping abreast of industry trends and competitors’ activities and developing sound market knowledge.

  • 5+ years of experience of directly managing a business development, sales, or consulting team (preferably managing a team of 5+ people).
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or consulting (preferably in the IT sector or in a top-notch consulting company).
  • Proven business development, sales, and/or consulting track record in the UK and solid knowledge of this market (a strong network of contacts and established relationships in London and/or other big cities in the UK would be an additional advantage).
  • Practical knowledge of the digital market and custom software development market.
  • Proven track record in setting and implementing a business strategy from scratch for new markets, including new countries and/or industries.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (CEFR C1+); Polish is not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to forecast sales and build and implement sales plans.
  • Ability to establish effective long-term relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to succeed in working cross-functionally with growth, business development, and tech teams.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude – willingness to build something new without clear procedures and structure.
  • Self-motivation, initiative, and high energy.
  • Strong negotiation skills, including the ability to handle objections and achieve mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the year.
