Machine Learning Engineer Manager

In order to achieve the next level of our technological development, we are looking for a highly motivated individual who would like to build and then lead our Machine Learning team. We have practical and commercial experience at applying ML to projects from different verticals (from finance to real estate) and companies (from startups to the world's biggest enterprises).

Our team is unique, so if you join us you will:

  • Build, lead, and grow an experienced and effective team of 8 machine learning engineers (and growing!)
  • Play a significant role at an already established, yet fast-growing company. We treat our ML team as a strategic investment to become the world's leader in digital transformation.
  • Enjoy a high degree of autonomy in decision-making -- you’ll manage the team end-to-end
  • Work directly with the Head of Technology & Product Design and in close cooperation with the senior management team

Your responsibilities will focus on:

  • Building a great team of ML engineers and leading through hiring, mentoring, motivating and hands-on career development
  • Scaling internal processes and overseeing the quality of our projects and software delivery
  • Identifying new opportunities to apply Machine Learning to different projects from our portfolio
  • Planning and implementing growth strategies and contributing to bringing in new long-term Machine Learning projects
  • Working closely with Recruiting to expand the team, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees
  • Promoting machine learning inside and outside organisation
  • Working closely with the Head of Tech & PD, ML Team Leaders, Practice Leads, and other Managers from different departments
What you already have:

  • Minimum two years of experience in a leadership role, preferably managing a team of 10+ people
  • Previous hands-on experience in building end-to-end Machine Learning or related systems
  • Deep understanding of agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation
  • Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve ambitious goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Practical insights on industry trends and understanding of the resulting opportunities & trade-offs 
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities - you don’t accept the status-quo and assertively strive to implement new solutions
  • Growth mindset & can-do attitude - you actively search for new opportunities to grow your team
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (minimum C1 CEFR)
It would be great if you also had:

  • Previous experience in managing Machine Learning teams
  • Understanding of the mathematical foundations of Machine Learning algorithms
  • Experience in a leadership role in a growing start-up, software house or an international corporation
  • Polish C1 CEFR
  • Experience in building a team development strategy
  • Bachelor, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
