The client
Moonfare is a Berlin fintech startup built on the belief that individual investors should be able to put money into private equity funds too. Its technology platform opens top-tier funds at minimums starting around €50,000.
Since launching in January 2018 it has managed funds across Germany, the UK and Switzerland, working with leading private equity names including Warburg Pincus, The Carlyle Group and EQT.

What we did
A private equity platform built to be trusted
A product designer, a QA engineer, a project manager and three developers started at the end of 2017, and recommended rebuilding the platform with Node.js on the backend, React on the frontend and AWS underneath.
Node.js
The backend was rebuilt after the analysis of the existing codebase and the business goals behind it.
React
React carries the interface that has to convince an individual investor to commit.
On AWS
Amazon Web Services offers plenty of tooling with strong support for the stack, which is what the platform was built to use.
Live in August 2018
The first version came after three months of development, and the commercial launch was covered in the media, including the global edition of Handelsblatt.
