Silk is Netguru’s own design system, built to make UI design for mobile faster and more consistent. It behaves as a nearly headless UI kit — useful for rapid prototyping, wireframing and style guides, and ready to serve as the design system on a commercial project.
It is now publicly available, so teams outside Netguru can reuse its components in their own commercial work.
Design work kept hitting the same drag: inconsistent visuals, nothing written down and no shared language between designers and developers.
Visuals and interactions were inconsistent, and the existing design solutions were hard to scale.
Missing documentation made the route from design to development inefficient.
Uneven design literacy slowed collaboration, and design and development ended up with misaligned priorities.

What we did
Silk ships as a library plus the documentation that makes it usable by someone who did not build it.
A component library supporting rapid prototyping and scalable design systems, with design tokens covering colour, typography, spacing and shapes.
Usable immediately for rapid prototyping, or adapted to specific branding for commercial and long-term projects.
Naming standards for files and components, guidelines for expanding the library over time, and practical advice on writing user-friendly copy.
Guides for putting Silk to work in different environments, whether an internal team or an external client.
Netguru quote
Silk bridges the gap between complex design systems and unstructured UI kits, empowering designers to enhance their skills, adopt best practices, and streamline their workflows.
