The life of the platform.
City Socializer is a subscription-based social discovery network for meeting new groups of friends locally and getting something out of a city’s social scene.
Filling a niche in the UK market meant an app engaging enough to compete with everything else asking for an evening.
Users had to be able to find peers close to them and plan offline activities together.
Location services, search and multiple categories of activity all needed building into the product.
The app had to be engaging enough to stand against established alternatives in the UK.
What we did
Netguru joined the development team to support the relaunch, putting the engineering process in place — continuous integration and code reviews among it.
The API and the frontend application were constructed with Backbone.js across multiple setups.
Google Maps integration is what makes a local social network local.
Users match their interests to local events inside an app kept stylish and streamlined.
The Next Web picked the project up, the platform grew past 250,000 users across the UK, and it then moved into the US market.
